York Facts

In 1644, during the Civil War, York was besieged by the Parliamentarians. Prince Rupert, and an army of 15,000 men lifted the siege. At at the Battle of Marston Moor of Rupert's 15,000 troops, 4,000 were killed and 1,500 captured. On July 15 the city surrendered to Sir Thomas Fairfax.

From the North From the A1 to A59 to City Centre pass through City Walls through first set of traffic lights at second set of lights turn right into Skeldergate and first left to the Hotel entrance.Or from the A19 cross the outer ring road A1237 into York passing the Theatre Royal. Turn right at the traffic lights over the Lendal Bridge to the next set of lights. Turn left into George Hudson Street. Turn left at the next lights and first right into Skeldergate. Take your first left to the Hotel entrance.From the South M1 M18 Junction 2 to A1 M to A64 to A1036 sliproad to City Centre. Pass through City Walls through first set of traffic lights at the second set of lights turn right onto Skeldergate and take your first left to the Hotel entrance.Don't forget to book your Hotel Car Parking Space.
