York Facts

In 1644, during the Civil War, York was besieged by the Parliamentarians. Prince Rupert, and an army of 15,000 men lifted the siege. At at the Battle of Marston Moor of Rupert's 15,000 troops, 4,000 were killed and 1,500 captured. On July 15 the city surrendered to Sir Thomas Fairfax.

The B B is a lovely Victorian house beautifully situated on the banks of the River Ouse in a peaceful spot and yet only a 5 minutes walk from both York railway station and the ancient City Walls.

Here you have the best of both worlds a central location but without the hustle bustle and noise of the city centre.

All of the guest rooms have colour television hair dryers and tea and coffee making facilities and are presented in a clean fresh modern style.

Virtually all rooms have ensuite showers only two have separate private facilities.

Breakfast at Riverside Walk is something of an occasion We offer a wide and varied selection of fresh and preserved fruits according to the season yoghurt cereals juices etc.

In addition we pride ourselves on cooking you a superb Yorkshire breakfast using a wide range of the finest locally sourced produce.

Directions:

From The M1 Follow the M1 until Junction 48 the very end which corresponds to Junction 44 of the A1 M . Then continue North on the A1 M for one junction. As Junction 45 approaches you will see signs to York A64 . Leave the A1 M at Junction 45 and bear round to the right following York on the A64. Follow the A64 dual carriageway for about 10 miles until you see signs for York A1237 the outer ring road . Take the A1237 turn off and follow it until you come to the fourth roundabout. This will be signing A19 Thirsk and York Centre which is also the A19 but less clearly indicated . At this fourth roundabout take the third exit York Centre and follow the road into the centre of town. As you approach the centre of York you will see the ancient sandstone city gate in front of you this is known locally as Bootham Bar . Look out for signs to Marygate Car Park and follow these to the right into Marygate itself. Marygate starts very narrow but widens out as you persevere Towards the end of Marygate there is a large pub called the Bay Horse turn right here and in front of you is the Marygate car park. Riverside Walk is to the left of you now and the large green signs on the back of our property should be clearly visible. It is possible to drive along the lane at the rear of Earlsborough Terrace in order to unload people and luggage.
